where have i been? nowhere special.
nothing really happened, i just needed an extended amount of time away from being so self reflexive. it wasn’t helpful to do something or plan on doing something, then immediately write about it. it started to feel staged and stiff. i just wanted to let things be.
but there is something more to that. i really didn’t know how much more i could talk about the same thing. it felt difficult and redundant to keep revisiting this thing that had no immediate resolution. this thing is more of a long haul type of situation, and it needed a moment of literary quiet to let things move to the next place they needed to move to. and where is that? i don’t know any more now than i did before. all i know is that i’m still holding out for that teenage feeling. all the loves that i’ve had harken back to that moment when i didn’t know better. and that’s okay.
but if you are curious, this is what i did. i put myself out there as a person who is in love with a girl that i can’t have. i’ve admitted that i won’t win, but that doesn’t mean that i’m defeated. i can’t not be in love with her, whether she wants me or not. i’m not giving up, i’m just giving in. here are our lives, and maybe one day things could be different, but right now this is what it is. i am so entranced by her, i adore her so much, and i am grown up enough to just let that be the way it is.
and i never really left. but i don’t know if i’m back.

I don’t know what we are going to do with you Joe. We all know that there is something there between the two of you that just might be really special. you are killing me again with this very sad story. you remind me of this pretty red bird. They have always been wrong about her lack of singing the love songs in spring. It could just be the tune that she loves and so she sings it for herself. Waiting for the perfect boy to come along and sing it is not her style and she gets tired of waiting and being disappointed.

Well, I guess that is enough fun for one day and now it is time to start some of those boring chores after I get off of here. Just not in the mood though. Wait a minute. It isn’t really any of my business where you have been or what you have been doing. I didn’t ask you that, did I? I was curious though and wanted you to get you butt back out here. Gee, you know what, maybe that red bird is me. Maybe i put myself out there to show interest in her and it turns out that I was banging my head against the glass over and over. That’s just crazy, isn’t it? HELLO! Life really really sucks sometimes but that is when you get the opportunity to leave the sad and shitty stuff behind you in order to let the new better stuff in.
Something else I was curious about, you don’t have to say if you don’t want. Do you really care for this girl and just this one girl? Being exclusive is kind of important, don’t you think? And what has she told you of how she feels about you? What things make you feel that you should or shouldn’t be together?

And opening with a solo showoff tune by Joe, he then hops over to join her for a short back and forth slide along the porch (I mean perch). He may be nervous about scaring her off by approaching her too aggressively or he may be just plain scared himself. Who knows. She starts to get a little worried when he stops giving her all the attention as he starts chewing on the plant and he even seems to look away from her and into the camera as he sings his song for the world out there. I think the audience is rooting for Joe even with all the clumsy awkward attempts going on. Now you have to give him credit for persistence and loving gentleness. He is giving it his all in such a beautifully expressive way, don’t you agree? Not to be quickly or easily forgotten is such a courtship. I adore Joe’s out of control feathers on top of his head and that blush thing he always seems to have going on there. For me it is all about there beauty, expression, energy, intelligence, playfulness, love. Can we learn from observing there juggling between the shy and bold, tender and mean, giving and taking? Probably not. We are just as trapped as they are in our limited bodies and minds, unable to express ourselves. But we too like to have fun trying.

of course I get frustrated by all the crap & disappointments in life and how she keeps me in my cage all the time. who wouldn’t? I must embarrass my girlfriend around her friends. I keep telling her that I just like to stay loose. I miss her when she is gone, but I’m sure she is happy and keeps plenty busy with her friends, work, and artsy stuff so this makes me happy. ok. i am falling in love again and can’t help it. first one here 1965 and second one 1967, same song from 66 was kind of boring and dry so I did not add. Big diff between them but not sure which I like best. Let’s see, she had relationship with dylan from 62 to late 65. Then worked with classical composer peter schickele in 66. The audience showed love and respect for her tonight. It was soft and peaceful.

No. I think I am honest & least likely to falsely sugar coat anything. I also have an intolerance for others who aren’t the same way. It is more a matter of sharing some reactions which were left out before. Everything still remains at a standstill, unresolved, unclear. That isn’t the way I would prefer things to be. But I will try to respond light heartedly, have some fun and wait and see. There are some very simple words and actions, requiring no commitments whatsoever that would bring about favorable conclusions. They would have to be privately shared of course.

Well Joe, I think my girlfriend is really good looking and smart and so forth. I also think that as much as she likes to get attention from others that she may also get some bad attention from others at times because of her looks. If anyone hurts her, I might have to beat them up.
It bothers me that people need to talk about others in a mean way. And so does the fact that she feels the need to be mean.

Talk about having fun. I have to fix a hole in my roof today. Seems that I have had a big visitor up in my attic. I was hoping the sound was from a squirrel on top of the roof. Wrong! I took care of my intruder and the hole that day. He left at sunset after I coaxed him with yelling and bright lights from the opposite end of the attic. Luckily he was loud enough to let me know he was trying to escape over by “his private entrance/exit” that I had sealed up earlier in the day. Based on the evidence, I would say it was a racoon, though I never got to see it. All taken care of without paying a service starting at $250 to set a trap or my having to buy an armor suit and diapers to get up close to the little varmint. Yep, you have to get rid of those type of invaders quickly before they cause destruction. Other types of invaders can’t be eliminated so easily or so cheaply– unfortunately.
Well, I guess half of it is warm enough but the other half is probably frozen over by now.
